In accordance with the CBA, Wachusett Administrators’ Association The Team Chair shall possess a Masters Degree in Special Education or in a related field. Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in Special Education with current DESE certification. Experience in planning and chairing Team Meetings and in coordinating services on behalf of special needs students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Act as a liaison between Special Education staff and building principals regarding issues related to the provision of services to special education students. 2. Schedule and oversee all aspects of the individualized Educational Program Process and chair IEP meetings for assigned students. 3. Supervise , consult with, and advise School Evaluation Teams for the purpose of assuring that assessments, reports, educational programs, and service delivery are of the highest quality. 4. Meet DESE requirements related to special education law including timelines, paperwork, file maintenance, and screening. 5. Coordinate and facilitate the evaluation of students referred for eligibility determinations and for current special education students. 6. Make recommendations to the Administrator of Special Education concerning modifications or development of Special Education programs and services for special needs students. 7. Participate in providing in-service training to professionals and parents. 8. Attend and chair meetings outside of the District if necessary as an out-of-district liaison. 9.Perform other special education duties as may be assigned by the Administrator of Special Education and or Building Principal. 10.Ability to commit District resources in a manner that meets the needs of special education students. This is a 200 day position
