JOB DESCRIPTION

The University of Southern Maine’s Counseling Services is seeking an Administrative Specialist. This is a 32-hour per week, 10-month position with the months of December and July off.
Our University Counseling Services promote emotional growth, well-being, and academic success for a diverse student body. Counseling Services provide culturally sensitive mental health and learning services, prevention programming and outreach, and training for emerging mental health professionals. Counseling and Health Services work collaboratively to provide outstanding clinical services for students.
The Administrative Specialist is responsible for a variety of administrative and clerical tasks that require strong organizational skills and flexibility. This role serves as the primary point of contact and an ongoing resource for both internal and external stakeholders, handling a wide range of verbal and written munications.
Collaboration within a team is essential, along with a mitment to exceptional customer service, maintaining confidentiality, filling administrative coverage gaps as needed, and managing multiple tasks effectively. The ability to prioritize and navigate an environment with frequent interruptions is crucial.
The position is located primarily on our Portland campus, and on occasion, events and coverage opportunities occur on other USM campuses. This full-time position will pay $18.86/hour (non-negotiable) for a new hire or the appropriate transfer rate for a current employee with the University of Maine System. This is a 32-hour per week, 10-month position with the months of December and July off. Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) or international degree equivalency
1+ years of administrative support experience
Excellent munication and customer service skills
