JOB DESCRIPTION

Line Elementary School seeks a highly skilled and experienced school administrator to lead its student-centered elementary school; serving 272 students in grades PreK-5. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and innovative educational leader with excellent communication skills, the ability to build consensus, an engaging personality, and a love of learning. Line Elementary School is a safe, respectful, and responsible community. We focus on the whole child with a clear and consistent approach to safety and social and emotional health, which are crucial in supporting students so they can access learning, sustain growth, and attain high academic achievement.

REPORTS TO

Superintendent of Schools or designee.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED

1. A Master’s Degree with specific preparation in elementary supervision and administration.
2. A minimum of five years of education experience.
3. A valid State of Maine Elementary Principal’s Certificate.
4. Relevant experience facilitating communication between and with groups.
5. Effective administrative and management skills.
6. Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Focus staff development time, including professional development days, early release days, and other similar opportunities on activities that are compatible with the District’s strategic plan.
Build collaborative relationships and lead the School’s mission, vision, and goals to support the academic and socioemotional success of all students.
Create a school environment in which staff, students, and parents develop a sense of trust, participation, equity, understanding, and productive interaction.
Implement processes and procedures that will further building and District goals.
Establish relationships with school stakeholders, parents, and community members to bring together school and community.
Foster a collegial environment that supports teacher leadership, collaboration, and growth.
Establish and implement operational policies, procedures, and practices that will promote RSU #57’s Strategic Plan.
Supervise school personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance, providing for professional growth, and achieving overall objectives of the school’s curriculum.
Evaluate the performance of all professional personnel and support staff in partnership with the assistant principal.
Assume responsibility for recommendations regarding student academic achievement by reviewing student progress reports, grade cards, standardized testing, and the results of local assessments.
Work with the building assistant principal to determine their strengths as an instructional leader and assume roles that align to those strengths in order to maximize the ability of the administrative team.
Prepare and recommend an annual budget.
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as directed by the Superintendent or as otherwise mandated by Maine State Law.
Keep the Superintendent informed of events and activities of an unusual nature, as well as routine matters related to the Superintendent’s or School Board’s interests.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

As determined by the Administrative Bargaining Agreement. Salary, work year, and working conditions to be established by the RSU 57 School Board.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Board’s policy on evaluation.
