This leader will work closely with the Principal to ensure rigorous, engaging instruction in literacy and humanities while upholding a culture of high expectations and joy. The ideal candidate brings a strong record of student achievement, deep knowledge of literacy instruction, and sharp organizational acumen in a dynamic urban school setting. Core Responsibilities Supervise, coach, and evaluate 8-12 middle school teachers with an emphasis on literacy and humanities instruction. Provide high-leverage feedback on lesson planning and instructional delivery with a focus on grade-level rigor and strategic scaffolding. Conduct weekly classroom observations and walkthroughs aligned to school-wide priorities. Lead weekly coaching and data meetings that emphasize teachers practicing new skills and zeroing in on gaps surfaced in the data. Support implementation of research-based, vertically aligned ELA and social studies curricula. Plan and facilitate professional development that builds teachers’ capacity to deliver grade- level instruction to a diverse group of learners. Monitor and respond to instructional data to ensure all students make measurable academic gains. Address discipline escalations and student behavior systems in partnership with the culture team. Collaborate with Principal to set vision, drive decision-making, and monitor progress toward school-wide goals. Ideal Candidate Qualities Deep instructional content knowledge in ELA, literacy, or humanities at the middle school level. Demonstrated success in driving student achievement, especially in urban school contexts. Skilled in identifying and implementing scaffolds that support all learners in accessing grade-level material. Highly detail-oriented with strong systems for managing tasks, timelines, and follow- through. Adept at building adult relationships, delivering feedback, and coaching for results. Belief in and commitment to student potential, cultural responsiveness, and educational equity. Driver Goals 85% of students demonstrate grade-level proficiency or growth in ELA and Humanities content. 90% Average Daily Attendance (ADA). 85% of students and families report satisfaction with their Kairos experience. 80% of staff are rated proficient or above on instructional expectations. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s in Education or Educational Leadership (preferred). 3+ years of classroom experience, preferably in ELA or humanities. Prior experience in instructional leadership, coaching, or team management preferred. Experience in urban education strongly preferred. Administrator certification or willingness to pursue. Eligible to work in the United States and pass background checks. Schedule and Compensation Monday through Friday, 7:30am-5:00pm. Some evening and weekend events required.
