GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

All Hinds Community College employees must commit to the Caring Campus approach to student engagement and daily apply these general behavioral objectives: listen to student questions and concerns with a positive attitude and make meaningful connections with students. Hinds Community College is seeking enthusiastic, dependable, and service-minded student leaders to serve as orientation leaders. In this role, students will represent the college by welcoming new students and their families, providing informative campus tours, and supporting key orientation events designed to help students transition smoothly into college life. This position is ideal for students who are passionate about Hinds, enjoy public speaking, and want to make a positive impact on the next generation of students.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous leadership experience (e.g., student government, clubs, housing staff, etc.) Knowledge of campus resources, student services, and student life opportunities

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Must be a Hinds Community College student in good academic standing

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND

RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead engaging, informative campus tours for prospective students, families, and groups Welcome and assist new students during New Student Orientation and registration events Provide peer-to-peer guidance by sharing personal student experiences and campus insights Assist with check-in, material distribution, and event coordination for orientation sessions Represent Hinds Community College with professionalism and school pride Collaborate with Admissions, Housing, Financial Aid, and other departments to support new students Promote student involvement, college resources, and success strategies Serve as a positive role model, demonstrating college values and expectations
