1st Year Academic Advisor (PT) 3.8 3.8 out of 5 stars 109 Community College Road, Ahoskie, NC 27910 Description The Academic Advisor at Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) is responsible for delivering high-quality academic advising and registration support to new students through a case management approach. The advisor will play a key role in promoting student success, supporting career development, and enhancing the student experience by providing personalized guidance, monitoring academic progress, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies.

Job Description Responsibilities:

The primary role is to provide individual advising to new students. Under the supervision of the Director of Advising, the advisor works with students to provide services, support, and guidance; refers students to appropriate community college support services and learning resources; and meets with students who are experiencing academic difficulty. In addition, the Advisor helps students with course selection, registration, and enrollment.

Essential Job Functions:

Deliver professional academic advising and registration support to new students through a case management approach. Participate in training sessions to gain a comprehensive understanding of Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) resources, policies, and procedures. Collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and leadership as an integral member of the advising team. Promote student success and career development by building strong relationships with students, faculty, and staff across the college. Monitor students’ progress regularly and provide consistent, personalized feedback to support their academic journey. Adhere to all institutional policies and procedures, always ensuring confidentiality and compliance. Provide timely, courteous, and accurate customer service to students, faculty, and staff in a professional manner. Assist students in identifying and overcoming barriers to their academic success. Support the assignment and transition of students to faculty advisors as appropriate. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Must demonstrate interpersonal skills applicable to working with a diverse population. Must be able to operate a computer equipped with software such as Microsoft Office Suite, Email, and other software related to the position.
