THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
  • A Master’s Degree or Doctorate in a related field.
  • Several years of experience as a classroom teacher, ideally in a middle and elementary school setting.
  • Several years of experience as a school administrator, ideally as a Head of School.
  • Demonstrated acumen for mentoring and guiding the professional development of classroom teachers.
  • Proven record of quickly assimilating into new environments, identifying areas for improvement and affecting change, while cultivating positive relationships.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructional Leadership & Faculty Supports

  • Provide exemplary leadership, coaching, modeling, and monitoring to all faculty members to achieve outstanding performance in preparing our students for future performance, including all aspects of the academic programming, in partnership with the leadership team.
  • Ensure that the school’s instructional practices and curriculum are delivered consistently and with integrity at all grade levels.
  • Implement effective assessment systems and use data to inform decisions in grades K-8.
  • Lead all aspects of curriculum development and assessments to ensure that all school programming aligns with state guidelines and standards developed by the school leadership team.
  • Hold primary responsibility for staff observations, curriculum development, and faculty communication.
  • Effectively communicate and implement Board policies and the Head of School’s vision for reaching and exceeding all goals.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to complete all requirements related to NCEES evaluations and teacher retention.
  • Develop a professional development calendar and oversee the implementation of all programming and services.
  • Ensure all testing requirements are fulfilled on time and with integrity. Community Engagement & School Culture
  • Foster a positive academic environment through consistency and clear expectations.
  • Collaborate with school faculty to support students’ academic needs, programming, and socio-emotional development and advocate for student support services.
  • Communicate regularly with families to encourage parent engagement and accountability and to make families aware of school policies and upcoming school trips and events.
  • Respond to concerns and implement the grievance process when appropriate. Additional Duties/Responsibilities
  • Participate in all monthly Board of Director meetings, relevant committee meetings, school leadership meetings, professional development days, and faculty meetings.
