SUPERVISES

: All Staff Role Overview The Assistant Head of School supports the Head of School in all aspects of the school leadership, including instructional leadership, student support, staff management, and school operations, while ensuring equitable outcomes for all students. Key Responsibilities Administrative Leadership

  • Provide effective leadership and management to maintain the smooth operation of the school.

Support the Head of School in developing and implementing the school’s vision and goals. Coach and mentor teachers to improve instructional practices. Monitor and evaluate student learning achievements. Ensure alignment of curriculum and instruction with state and district standards. Assist in summer planning. Collaborate with administrative staff to ensure all administrative processes are executed efficiently. Academic Oversight

  • Monitor and support the school’s academic programs, ensuring alignment with educational standards and best practices.

Guide instructional leaders and teachers to promote student achievement and success. Lead weekly data meetings with teachers to identify academic trends and plans to address those trends. Monitor weekly lesson plans to ensure pacing. Coordinate alignment of state standards and rigor. Conduct walk-throughs, formal and informal observations. Student Support

  • Foster a positive and inclusive school environment that prioritizes student welfare and academic growth. Address student discipline issues and promote a positive school climate. Work with students and families to address academic and behavioral concerns. Provide SEL support Staff Support
  • Assist the Head of School with hiring, training and evaluating staff. Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and staff. Budget and Resource Management
  • Assist in managing school resources and budget. School Policies and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with local education regulations, school policies, and procedures. Work closely with relevant authorities and regulatory bodies as necessary. Crisis Management
  • Establish and follow crisis management protocols to handle emergencies, prioritizing the safety and well-being of students, staff, and visitors.

Conduct drills (fire, lockdown, lockout, shelter-in-place and tornado)

Other Duties :

As indicated by the Head of School Specific Duties State Testing Coordinator Title IX Coordinator Develop and manage staff morning, lunch, and after school duties Lead the School Leadership Team (Indistar) Send out daily coverage for teacher absences Attend Board Meetings Handle discipline and referrals Collaborate with the School Counselor in establishing programs and activities designed to foster positive relationships among students and between students and staff. Provide leadership in developing a communication plan for students and staff.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

: Bachelor Degree required in education or a related area 3-5 years of school leadership experience, charter school experience preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience in leading data meetings to drive instruction and inform instructional decision making Superior relationship management skills, including external and internal stakeholders/clients Passion for education reform and a commitment to serving children in under-served communities State Testing Coordinator Experience Knowledge of Title IX Experience with Indistar platform
