Position Overview:

The Principal will provide leadership with an oversight for the academic, administrative, and operational functions of the school. This individual will work closely with the school’s board, faculty, and staff to create a positive learning environment that integrates both secular and Islamic education. The Principal will also be a key advocate for the school within the broader Charlotte community and Islamic community.

Position Supervisor:

The principal reports to the Superintendent, Dr. Adnan Yusuf Gorani, the Director of IDEA Consulting.•

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Vision:
  • Implement the school’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
  • Ensure the academic and Islamic standards of the school are upheld, fostering an environment of high expectations.
  • Collaborate with school leadership, faculty, and the board to create and maintain a positive school culture.
  • Promote and support professional development for faculty and staff.
  • Plan and lead initiatives for school improvement, growth, and innovation.
  • Review and analyze the School Improvement Plan and develop strategies to engage the broader community.
Academic Oversight:
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the school’s academic curriculum, ensuring it is aligned with both state standards and Islamic principles.
  • Monitor and evaluate academic progress, including student achievement, teacher performance, and curriculum development.
  • Lead school-wide initiatives aimed at improving academic outcomes.
  • Regularly monitor instructional quality through classroom observations and teacher evaluations.
  • Guide data-driven decisions to enhance student achievement and growth.
  • Lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on curriculum and student improvement.
Community Engagement:
  • Foster strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and the broader community, including local mosques, educational organizations, and community leaders.
  • Serve as a representative of the school within the broader Charlotte and Islamic communities.
  • Encourage parental involvement and ensure the school provides excellent customer service and communication to families.
Operational Management:
  • Manage day-to-day school operations, including staffing, budgeting, facilities coordination,
  • and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for the smooth running of the school.
  • Plan the school’s yearly calendar, events, and activities.
  • Create and implement a marketing plan to promote school enrollment and visibility.
  • Search for grant opportunities to support school funding and development.
  • Review and update curriculum and student resources annually. Faculty & Staff Management
  • Oversee the recruitment and evaluation of faculty and staff.
  • Provide ongoing professional development, mentorship, and evaluation.
  • Foster a collaborative, growth-minded professional culture.
Collaborative Culture:

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all students.
  • Ensure fair, compassionate, and consistent discipline practices.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents and guardians.
Spiritual Leadership:
  • Incorporate Islamic values and teachings into the daily operations of the school.
  • Foster a nurturing Islamic environment for both students and staff.
  • Promote the observance of Islamic practices such as prayer, Ramadan, and Islamic holidays.
  • Qualifications:
  • Education:
  • (Required) A Master’s Degree in Education, Educational Leadership, Administration, or a related field.
  • (Preferred) A degree in Islamic Studies or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a leadership role in an educational setting (preferably in a K-12 Islamic or private school environment).
  • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience (preferably in a K-12 environment).
  • Experience in managing a diverse team, including teachers, administrative staff, and students.
  • Proven track record of successful school management, curriculum development, and student achievement.
  • Strong understanding of both secular & Islamic educational practices, and a commitment to Islamic education and values.
  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Excellent leadership, with an ability to lead with vision, empathy, and a results-driven mindset.
  • Strong strategic planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of school governance, financial management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Deep understanding of Islamic teachings, values, and principles.
