SUMMARY:
Floater The Primary Afternoon Floater position is a fast paced, organized and highly scheduled position that provides support for the Primary teachers and children. Primary Afternoon Floater assists the Primary teachers in providing a warm, nurturing and safe environment where self-direction is enhanced, independence encouraged and individuality respected. The Floater meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of both the individual and the group in the following areas: classroom environment, management, and professionalism. They follow the direction of the Head of School and the Primary Lead Teachers and report to the Head of School.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
include the following; others may be assigned as needed: Is responsible for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times Adheres to professional standards as a child care provider for the purpose of maintaining quality and excellence Follows all policies and procedures of the school as written in the Employment and Family Handbooks Adheres to the guidelines set forth by the NC Division of Child Development and Early Education Protects the privacy and working atmosphere of the classes at all times Supervises children in the classroom and on the playground at all times Supervises children during naptime. Assists in maintaining attendance records. Takes responsibility for the care and maintenance of the kitchen and multipurpose room materials and playground equipment. Reports all accidents or unusual situations to the Head of School and fills out incident reports as needed. Notifies the Head of School immediately of personal difficulties with children, parents, or staff members. Supervises children in the Primary after school program. Prepares snack and maintains kitchen cleanliness, including wiping counters, washing dishes, loading dishwasher and putting away dishes when clean and dry. Cleans up multipurpose room after naptime. Supports all school-related fundraising projects
QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations with a continual need for tact and diplomacy and must be able to manage a wide variety of personalities. EXPERIENCE
Red Cross training in first aid and CPR, valid NC driver’s license, criminal background check, medical exam and Tb test; experience with children. Basic computer skills required. NC Early Childhood Credential a plus and will be required within one year of hire.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out the job description. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

COMPENSATION
$13.51-17.99/ hour based on education and experience
