Summary:

The Business Office Manager position works closely with the Director of Operations and the Associate Chair of Administration central administration leadership team to manage all aspects of business and operational management. This leadership position helps to ensure accurate, complete and consistent operational and business management practices. The position is responsible for financial oversight, HR management, general communication, project coordination, and administrative oversight.

Responsibilities:

1. Operates as central administrative content expert. Maintains policy and procedure documents. Assists with creation, preparation and updating of policies and procedures, prior to final approval by the Director of Operations and/or Associate Chair of Administration. 2. Functions as liaison for communications between Central Administration and Department of Pediatrics divisions, UNC

SOM, UNC

Health, and beyond. 3. Responsible for financial oversight and processing in conjunction with the department finance team related to Central Administration. This includes but is not limited to funding review, purchasing, and budget planning. 4. Manages central administration HR in conjunction with HCS and SOM HR teams, including recruitment, on-boarding, supervision of staff, performance management and general personnel issues. 5. Develops short-term and long-term goals for staff and analyzes activity to ascertain the extent to which goals are being met. 6. Maintains a qualified and knowledgeable staff. Conducts orientation and ongoing education and training for existing employees. 7. Participates in development of short and long-term goals central administration goals. 8. Manages space allocation and related projects along with the Director of Operations.

Other Information Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:
None Professional Experience Requirements:

With Bachelor’s degree, five (5) years of administrative experience in a healthcare setting. With Associate’s degree, nine (9) years of administrative experience in a healthcare setting. With high school diploma, thirteen (13) years of administrative experience in a healthcare setting.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:

It is essential the selected candidate possess recent administrative experience (within 3 years) in a large, diverse clinical/academic setting; familiarity with clinical research; experience with office operations, computer programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and a demonstrated ability to work independently. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are required for the role to function as part of a team and for ongoing customer satisfaction. The role requires an organized, detail-oriented, and flexible individual, capable of managing competing priorities and projects. Strong knowledge of clinical operations is a plus.
