Recruitment Range:

$72,621 – $79,883 This position is located at Rockingham Youth Development Center in Reidsville, NC (Rockingham County). This is a 12 month position paid on the state teachers’ salary scale plus a 6% supplement. This vacancy is for a site level school administrator who will provide leadership, support and management of the school at Rockingham Youth Development Center (YDC). The educational program provides instruction for students working on the North Carolina Standard Course of Study and provides opportunities for students to obtain their high school equivalency and/or vocational training opportunities. Students at Rockingham YDC have been committed to this facility by the juvenile court system. The school operates on a 12- month calendar and observes state government holidays. Responsibilities of this position will include but not limited to:

  • Supervision of educational staff at Rockingham YDC and assigned detention center(s) – DPI licensed teachers, data manager, education assistant, and substitute teacher; conduct evaluations using the NCEES and NCVIP systems
  • Facilitates professional development opportunities for education staff
  • Communicate with community-based schools to support the transition of students
  • Communicate with the Director of Juvenile Education Services and other central office staff
  • Serve on assigned committee(s) to support advancement of Juvenile Justice goals and initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position. Work hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. We offer great Benefits!

KSAs:

Experience providing leadership to ensure effective instruction for all students, including compliance with the delivery of special education services and maintenance of Exceptional Children (EC) files.
Experience collaborating with other professional sections to develop and implement educational treatment and/or transition plans for students.
Experience collaborating with community partners, such as local community college and other agencies to provide educational opportunities.
Experience collecting and/or analyzing student performance and outcome data to improve instructional and environmental practices.
Experience managing an education budget.

Management Preferences:

These skills are not required but managers may choose to interview/select applicants who demonstrate Management Preferences. Three years of educational administrative experience.
