EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The Davie Academic & Student Life Advisor delivers learning-centered, holistic academic advising and case management to support students in navigating a guided pathway aligned with their academic, career, and life goals. The Advisor designs and implements student engagement strategies that promote academic persistence, retention, and program completion. In addition, the Advisor connects students to campus activities and student engagement opportunities that enrich the Davie Campus experience. The Davie Academic & Student Life Advisor reports to the Senior Director, Davie Student Services and has the following responsibilities: Provide holistic, strengths-based academic advising that helps students create and follow personalized educational plans aligned with their academic and career goals.
Guide students through their academic journey by helping them explore program options, understand degree and certificate pathways, and make informed decisions from entry to graduation.
Monitor and support student progress by regularly reviewing academic performance and proactively intervening with students facing academic challenges (alert, suspension, or probation).Utilize early alert systems to identify at-risk students and conduct timely outreach, offering appropriate referrals to academic support and community resources.
Develop and implement student success plans by facilitating workshops, seminars, or learning sessions on topics such as time management, study skills, or academic resilience.
Assist students with initial screenings for available support resources to meet student’s personal and financial need. Collaborate with faculty and staff across departments to stay informed on program updates, share student concerns, and enhance advising services.
Contribute to the creation and improvement of advising tools and processes, including e-advising platforms and materials that support student access and success.
Promote student engagement and retention by organizing events, outreach initiatives, and communication strategies that increase connection to advising and campus resources.
Commit to ongoing professional development by attending trainings, participating in professional organizations (e.g., NACADA), and integrating evidence-based advising practices into daily work.
Facilitate the development, delivery, and notification of student activities and programs, including but not limited to co-curricular events, at the Davie Campus.
Contribute to the development and assessment of student learning outcomes and program goals.
Assist with recruitment, admissions and financial aid processes on the Davie Campus.
Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.
Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetingsPerforms other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.
