Open Until Filled About the Opportunity Vance County Schools is seeking an innovative, equity-minded, and collaborative instructional leader to serve as Principal of STEM Early High School – Middle Grades Campus . As the district’s specialized STEM middle school, this unique learning environment integrates hands-on learning, technology, and real-world connections to ignite students’ passion for STEM and build a strong academic foundation for high school, college, and careers. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader who understands adolescent development, champions innovation, and creates a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and academic excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of a rigorous, STEM-integrated curriculum for grades 6-8 Cultivate a student-centered culture that supports inquiry, collaboration, and curiosity Supervise and support teachers through high-impact coaching, evaluation, and professional development Monitor academic data to close achievement gaps and improve outcomes for all students Promote positive behavior and a supportive climate using PBIS and SEL frameworks Engage families, community organizations, and local industry partners to enhance learning Manage budgets, scheduling, and school operations in alignment with district policy Build systems for student exposure to STEM careers, mentorship, and future-ready skills

What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in School Administration Valid North Carolina Principal License Minimum 3-5 years of successful leadership experience (school or district level) Deep understanding of middle grades education, curriculum, and instruction Demonstrated commitment to equity, student achievement, and culturally responsive practices

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a STEM, magnet, or early college school setting Background in project-based or inquiry-driven learning Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Track record of building collaborative teams and effective school culture Why Join Vance County Schools?
