Job Summary
This position is responsible for assisting the Principal in the planning, organization, administration, and management of the school. The position assists with providing school-wide leadership to promote student achievement and safety of each student and staff member. The Assistant Principal ensures a safe and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary, and enforces school rules and policy. This position performs duties assigned by the Principal involving major portions of school operations and assumes administration responsibility for the school in the absence of the Principal. Special emphasis is placed on student discipline, student attendance, LEA for Special Education and 504 meetings, and supervision and evaluation of staff.
Additional duties include but are not limited to:
Promote the success of all students consistent with a vision for learning that is shared and supported by the school community, school board, and superintendent of schools Facilitating the development, articulation, implementation and stewardship of best practices for students
Advocating, nurturing, and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff development
Ensuring management of the organization, operations, and resources for a safe, efficient and effective learning environment
Communicate with parents/guardians and key stakeholders regarding student discipline and safety
Confer with teachers and parents/guardians concerning student discipline, attendance, and student behavior
Assign, direct, and be responsible for the evaluation of all personnel employed
Prepare related reports and records required by the school, district, state, and/or federal government; Perform any duty assigned by the principal and superintendent in accordance with school board policy, state statutes, and the state board of education. Qualifications
A master’s degree from an accredited educational institution; at least five (5) years of teaching and/or administration experience; demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, technology integration, special education and 504, and school operations/programs; current New Hampshire certification or the eligibility to obtain a Principal endorsement.
Special Education experience preferred but not required.
