POSITION GOAL

To assume leadership in the supervision, programming, fiscal, and administrative responsibilities for students with disabilities who are eligible for special education and Section 504. To collaborate with building administration and key stakeholders to ensure systems are in place with best practices that supports high learning outcomes for all students.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

M.Ed. In administration/special education

Certification:

NH Department of Education Special Education Administrator certification

Experience:

Minimum of three years teaching experience in special education and three years administrative experience preferred.

EVALUATION

Performance of position responsibilities will be evaluated annually in accordance with the approved administrative procedure for staff evaluation.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Must possess a sophisticated understanding of state and federal special education laws, regulations, and NH educational standards 2. Regulates compliance with all state and federal laws regarding disabled students. Monitors and reports out annual NH LEA District Determinations and NH Special Education Indicators; actively implements plans to address any areas of concern or non-compliance. 3. Supervise special education personnel including occupational therapist, speech pathologist, school psychologist, special education teachers, & Paraprofessionals. 4. Develops, implements, and evaluates programs for all special education students. 5. Supervise special education personnel 6. Ensures case management and legal responsibilities for DHHS/court-involved cases, out-of-district placed students, and other cases of similar nature are adhered to. 7. Works collaboratively with the principal in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all aspects of tiered support services and direct services to students. 8. Ensures that students’ special education records are maintained in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements. 9. Assumes a responsible role in development of in-service training for special education staff and serves as a resource for in-service training for regular education staff. 10. Provides data to the SAU administration providing an accounting of special education students, including the development of such reports as are necessary for the management of special education programming. 11. Collaborates with building administration to supervise and evaluate all personnel in the special education department. 12. Prepares and manages the special education portion of the annual school budget. 13. Serves as 504 Coordinator and has structures in place to ensure implementation for all students both in and out of district. 14. Writes and administers federal and state special education grants. 15. Writes and administers the federal Title I grant and serves as the district’s McKinney-Vento Liaison 16.
