To assist the Principal in the management of the High School Program

Performance Responsibilities:
Overall responsibilities
It shall be the duty of the Assistant Principal of Athletics & Activities to supervise the sports and activities programming in order to ascertain that each sport and club is being conducted on the basis most beneficial to the students involved and with adequate safeguards for their health and welfare. The Assistant Principal of Athletics & Activities shall act as coordinator of the entire athletic and club program with all budget requests, purchase orders and such materials passing through the Athletic Office.
The specific duties are:
Supervisory:
To stimulate cooperation between coaches, teachers and administrators regarding general athletic policies
To solicit candidates for and conduct screening interviews for all head coaching positions
To solicit candidates for assistant coaching positions and work with the respective head coaches to select assistants
To recommend to the principal approval or non-approval of all coaching assignments
To be responsible to the principal for all matters involving interscholastic athletics and clubs
To foster self-development and professional growth
To evaluate all coaches
To keep the principal informed of all matters and to clear athletic procedures with him when necessary
To act as a consultant to the administration and coaching personnel on matters pertaining to the athletic program
To serve as liaison between the school and the community, and to serve as a resource person within the community regarding athletics
To interpret League regulations, NJSIAA, National Federation regulations, and local Board Policies to coaches, parents and athletes and represent school at league, county and state meetings
To supervise all athletic facilities, schedule practice use and recommend maintenance and repairs
To prepare a budget each year to cover the required expenditures necessary to conduct a total and comprehensive interscholastic athletic program
Helps supervises with assemblies
Develops effective procedures and monitoring appropriate student behavior
Coordinate and monitor drug testing
Coordinate and input any/all high school facilities booking requests
Communicate and coordinate with booster clubs
Communicate and coordinate with WD Hall of Fame Committee
Staff Evaluation:
Review of lesson plans on On-Course
Conduct walkthrough classroom observations
Conduct evaluations of certificated staff

Student Discipline:
Confers with students, parent and teachers
Prepares information necessary for Central Office or Board of Education
Consults with guidance counselors/Student Assistance Counselor
Works with the Anti-Bullying Specialist to ensure the safety of all students and process Harassment/Intimidation and Bullying investigation
Consults with members of the Child Study Team
Enters disciplinary records (actions & disposition) into PowerSchool
Prepares Monthly Discipline Report
Prepares and distributes the student/parent handbook
Athletic Events:
To represent the school at athletic events
To schedule and contract all athletic contests
To arrange transportation for all athletic teams
To contract for all home officials
To provide proper administration and supervision of all athletic events
To make sure athletic facilities are properly maintained
To allot the use of the gym and the playing fields for practices and games
To be sure the school physician and an ambulance are present at all varsity football games and to attempt to secure an ambulance for sub-varsity football games at home
To arrange for police details at athletic events when necessary
To arrange for ticket takers, supervisors, ticket sellers, etc., when needed, and to pay them in accordance with the procedures established by the Board Secretary/Business Manager
General Duties:
To be responsible for submitting requisitions for all athletic equipment and supplies
To keep a complete file of all financial receipts and expenditures
To keep an accurate inventory of all athletic equipment
To hold professional meetings with all members of the athletic department
To check eligibility of all athletes
To be responsible for the care, maintenance and storage of all athletic equipment
To approve all recommendations for athletic awards
To maintain complete athletic records for each sports season when finished
To have a thorough knowledge of NJSIAA rules and regulations
To be responsible for publicity and press releases concerning athletes
To offer in-service, self-development programs to all coaches
To call necessary coaches’ meetings to formulate athletic policies and to submit policies and developments to the administration and the Board
To requisition and supervises the athletic awards
To handle all other duties in connection with the athletic program not mentioned above
Activities:
Plans, supervises and publishes a calendar of events on an annual and monthly basis. This includes fundraising information and school functions.
Plans, organizes, budgets, maintains and oversees clubs for students and staff
Recruits and recommends staff to fill activities and club advisorships
Helps coordinate student elections
Processes all requests for field trips and secures buses
Coordinates Homecoming and Prom in conjunction with the Student Council
Maintains activities sign in front of building
Handles assignments which the Principal may assign, including public relations
Oversees the booking for the high school and maintains facilities usage through facilities booking software program
Develops and updates Activity Handbook for faculty/students

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. to move office boxes when necessary.
