Position Overview:
The Elementary Principal serves as the educational leader and administrator of the PK-4 school building, responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction, student achievement, staff development, and a safe, inclusive, and positive school culture. This individual will implement the District’s mission and vision at the building level, aligning all efforts with the strategic goals of the Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School District.

Month, Full-Time Administrative Position Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Leadership Lead the implementation of a rigorous, standards-based curriculum aligned with NYS Learning Standards. Promote data-driven instruction and continuous school improvement through assessment analysis and instructional coaching. Ensure academic and social-emotional interventions are implemented to meet diverse student needs, including special education, ELL, and economically disadvantaged populations. Personnel Management Supervise, evaluate, and support all instructional and non-instructional personnel within the elementary building. Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality staff members. Foster a professional culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Student Support and Discipline Promote student-centered practices that emphasize positive behavior, restorative practices, and character development. Enforce the District’s Code of Conduct while supporting equitable, proactive discipline measures. Family and Community Engagement Build strong relationships with families to promote engagement, trust, and shared responsibility for student success. Communicate effectively and regularly with stakeholders through newsletters, meetings, and events. Operational Oversight Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, safety protocols, transportation coordination, and building use. Manage building-level budgets and resources responsibly and efficiently. Compliance and Reporting Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local education laws, policies, and regulations. Maintain accurate student records, accountability reports, and required state documentation.
Qualifications:
Required:
NYS School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) certification Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in education, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role Demonstrated knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional strategies, and special education services
Preferred:
Experience in a rural school district setting Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, and trauma-informed practices Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
