Elementary Principal (Grades PK-4)

Position Overview:

The Elementary Principal serves as the educational leader and administrator of the PK-4 school building, responsible for ensuring high-quality instruction, student achievement, staff development, and a safe, inclusive, and positive school culture. This individual will implement the District’s mission and vision at the building level, aligning all efforts with the strategic goals of the Cattaraugus-Little Valley Central School District.

Month, Full-Time Administrative Position Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructional Leadership o Lead the implementation of a rigorous, standards-based curriculum aligned with NYS Learning Standards.

o Promote data-driven instruction and continuous school improvement through assessment analysis and instructional coaching. o Ensure academic and social-emotional interventions are implemented to meet diverse student needs, including special education, ELL, and economically disadvantaged populations.

  • Personnel Management o Supervise, evaluate, and support all instructional and non-instructional personnel within the elementary building. o Recruit, hire, and retain high-quality staff members. o Foster a professional culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Student Support and Discipline o Promote student-centered practices that emphasize positive behavior, restorative practices, and character development. o Enforce the District’s Code of Conduct while supporting equitable, proactive discipline measures.
  • Family and Community Engagement o Build strong relationships with families to promote engagement, trust, and shared responsibility for student success. o Communicate effectively and regularly with stakeholders through newsletters, meetings, and events.
  • Operational Oversight o Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, safety protocols, transportation coordination, and building use. o Manage building-level budgets and resources responsibly and efficiently.
  • Compliance and Reporting o Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local education laws, policies, and regulations.

o Maintain accurate student records, accountability reports, and required state documentation.

Qualifications:
    Required:

    o NYS School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) certification o Minimum of 5 years of successful experience in education, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role o Demonstrated knowledge of elementary curriculum, instructional strategies, and special education services

      Preferred:

      o Experience in a rural school district setting o Familiarity with MTSS, PBIS, and trauma-informed practices o Strong interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills
