The Role:

ing to the Director, ABT JKO School Children’s Division, the Assistant, Children’s Division, ABT JKO School will provide immediate support for the day-to-day operations of the JKO School Children’s Division student body. They will interact heavily in-person with ABT JKO School parents and students, faculty, musicians, and prospective families, acting as a resource/liaison between these groups and ABT’s Education and Training Department. The Assistant must be able to work in-person and be onsite at American Ballet Theatre five days per week, as they are responsible for opening and closing studios. The Assistant position requires a high level of professionalism, good instincts, confidentiality, positive energy, and a can-do attitude.
Specific Responsibilities
Manages new student inquiries and information requests related to the ABT JKO School Children’s Division (JKO CD).
Serves as a studio monitor and the first point of contact for daily classes and ABT JKO events on the 4th floor.
Responds daily to ABT JKO Children’s Division student and parent inquires and concerns via phone and email.
Manages distribution of weekly class schedule to all

faculty, musicians, and families.
Completes data entry for student records in the Children’s Division and manages attendance records during the academic year in Salesforce.
Tracks incident and behavior reports and schedules conferences with Children’s Division families and faculty as need be.
Provides support to ABT’s Bursar/Finance Department during ABT JKO School tuition deadlines and follows up with families as necessary.
Coordinates weekly

ABT JKO CD

Class Assistant schedules alongside the Children’s Division Director.
Executes emergency response and crisis management duties as needed on Saturdays and during evening class hours.
Coordinates building safety policies and procedures, and distributes to students, faculty and staff, including the creation of fire safety and action plan at the start of each academic year.
Arranges faculty and musician substitutions and additional classes/workshops when necessary.
Assists with boutique inventory, sales, and stock.
Assists in the scheduling of meetings with ABT JKO School Directors and Artistic Director.
Maintains andanizes student records and department filing system.
Assists in the coordination of all ABT JKO School Pre-Professional Division, Children’s Division, and ABT Summer Intensive Open Auditions.
Provides support at ABT JKO School spring performances and ABT events when ABT JKO students are present.
Other duties as assigned by the Children’s Division Director, Pre-Professional Division Director, and Managing Director of ABT Education.
Prepares materials and provides support at ABT Education Committee Meetings.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required; kledge of PowerPoint, Salesforce a plus.
Extremelyanized, attentive to detail, and able to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent writing skills, telephone manner and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to work productively with artists, students, parents, and educators.
Must be an adept problem solver and multi-tasker.
Must act with discretion and respect confidentiality, in a customer service-oriented environment.
Collaborative team player – energetic, enthusiastic, positive, and personable – with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders including staff, Board Members and their assistants, ED contacts, external partners and donors.
Proven ability to interact clearly and effectively with a broad range of people.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and diplomacy is critical.
A passion for and kledge of the performing arts is a plus.
Must be available onsite to work in-person five days per week, a schedule including evening hours (through 8:00PM) during the workweek with consistent Saturday hours during the academic year (September through May).

ABT also takes a “Hiatus Week” in August, and we close between Christmas and New Year; we also observe the standard annual Company Holidays including Juneteenth.

$35,000 – $40,000 a year
