Coordinator for Student Development and Activ Marymount Manhattan Col New York, NY Job Details Full-time $62,500 a year 6 hours ago Qualifications Event planning Mid-level Bachelor’s degree Conflict management Organizational skills Grocery store Budgeting 1 year Communication skills Full Job Description The Coordinator for Student Development and Activities supports the mission of Marymount Manhattan College and the functions of the Office of Student Development and Activities (SDA) based on student development principles for a multicultural student population in an urban environment. Student Development and Activities provides students with opportunities for meaningful learning experiences outside of the classroom through social, cultural, recreational, and leadership engagement. These experiences are grounded in the following areas of student engagement: leadership development, student involvement, orientation, and through the curation of educational and social experiences in our Intercultural Center, focused on community building, social support, and a social justice competency.

Salary:

$62,500 The position reports directly to the Director of Student Development and Activities and requires evening and weekend hours.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Engagement Prioritize student development and engagement by providing support for department programs and initiatives, registered student organizations, and the overall student experience. Assist with the planning and implementation of college-wide programming, such as New Student Orientation, Homecoming Weekend, Student Leadership Awards, MMC Week, and other department-hosted events; this would also include Student Leader Training. Manage the department’s social media, website, and MMC Engage presence in an informative and engaging format. Participate as an active member of the Student Development and Activities team; attend meetings, retreats, and trainings, and provide support to major department-wide programs. Administrative Provide administrative support for the office, which can include hiring paperwork, budget management, purchase requisitions, calendar management, ordering supplies, vendor management, and other logistical demands of the department. Understand campus resources available to students and know how to connect them to those resources. Collect data for program evaluation and verification. Safeguard the confidentiality of students by exercising discretion in communicating information to faculty, students, and staff served by the College, and in the handling of administrative records, files, and confidential items. Serve on College committees, maintain a collaborative, collegial, and professional work environment; demonstrate consensus-building skills. Respond to student and parent concerns with thoughtfulness and care. Assist in administering Griffy’s Grocery and other SDA support programs. Staff department/division and college events as assigned. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Bachelors’ degree plus 1 year of relevant experience in an academic environment is required Proven experience with event planning, with a focus on program development, execution, and triaging issues that arise Successful budget management experience Experience working with diverse student populations Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail Must be able to work in a fast-paced and busy office environment Late evening and weekend hours may be required
