Description Pilgrim’s is seeking Superintendent for ourBroadway, VA Fresh Foods facility.
Purpose & Scope:
Providesleadership for team members in specified area and shift. Hasprimary responsibility for the direction of the workforce toachieve all safety, quality and operational goals as set forth byfacility management. Production Superintendent will manage in afresh plant environment managing all aspects of processing area,utilizing knowledge of processing technology, processing methods,procedures, and capabilities of machines and equipment. Thisposition will be responsible for 25-35 hourly employees.
PrincipleResponsibilities:
Meet and exceed production goals set forth byplant management. Responsible for meeting volume goals, reducingclaims, maximizing yields, reducing cost, increasing team memberretention and maintaining good working relationships with the USDA(meat), and all team members Directly supervise hourly productionteam members to include direction of activities and ensuringtraining of all team members to product specifications, techniques,and requirements Monitor and ensure proper procedures, safety, andcleanliness of production team members; provide positive and/orcorrective feedback as necessary Ensure food safety, humanresources, and safety policy compliance with all production teammembers Look for continuous improvement in operating processes andprocedures and encourage hourly team member ownership of allprocesses. Manages all aspects of processing for the assigneddepartment Coordinates with Sales & Marketing, and fellowSuperintendents to ensure orders are filled on a timely basis andmeet all quality standards. Promotes and maintains plant safetyDevelops leads and coaches production team members.
WorkingConditions:
Production and maintenance settings Exposure to variouschemicals, machinery and knives Slippery floors, extremetemperatures and loud noises High level of interaction with otherdepartments and team members 50 hours per week, occasionally onweekends
Education:
High School degree or equivalent required, orequivalent combination of education and experience Bachelor’sDegree in applicable field preferred
Experience:
1-2 years provensupervisory experience in the food industry; industry-specificexperience encouraged
