Successful candidates must be progressive minded, and embody a can-do spirit and work ethic. For best consideration, candidates should have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience, prior experience in a leadership position, a demonstrated track record of success in inclusive special education, and a “whatever it takes” attitude to ensure that all students succeed at a high level.

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant to the Superintendent for Student Services plays a critical leadership role in ensuring equitable and high-quality student support services across the district. This individual is responsible for overseeing programs related to special education, school counseling, social-emotional learning, health services, student discipline, and other initiatives designed to support the whole child. The role involves collaboration with school leaders, families, staff, and community agencies to enhance student well-being and academic achievement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
include but are not limited to: Provides a vision for the direction of student services, discipline issues, and curriculum to meet the unique needs of students. Serve as a key advisor to the Superintendent on student service matters and help ensure district compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. Assigns certificated and classified staff to programs and evaluates the performance of those personnel not assigned direct supervision by other administrative personnel. Evaluate, develop and support the implementation of effective and innovative programs and services in the student services department. Keeps abreast of curriculum innovations, learning theory, and current organizational practice for the purpose of modifying, updating, and improving programs and services Provide leadership and oversight for the development, implementation, and evaluation of all student services programs, including special education, Section 504, English Language Learner (ELL) support, mental health, and counseling.
Establishes procedures for assessment, placement, evaluation, assignment, and review of students with regard to the full continuum of student support service Recommends policies and compliance procedures essential to the needs of children for federal and state funding and for the purpose of supporting student needs for and access to the educational process. Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing education, specifically related to health services, psychological services, mental health services, and other programs which support student services. Responsible for compiling, maintaining, and filing of all reports, records, and other documents legally required or administratively useful. Analyze student data to guide strategic planning and decision-making that promotes equity, inclusion, and positive outcomes. Prepare and present student services data reports to the Superintendent, CEO, Board of Education, and other stakeholders as needed.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree preferred Administrative certification and 3-5 years K-12 experience in a leadership role required Superintendent letter of eligibility or ability to obtain one required Familiarity with charter schools preferred
