Job Description

Director of High School Chester Charter Scholars Academy 1500 Highland Avenue, Chester, PA 19013 Director of High School (9-12) Overview Under the supervision of the Head of School/CEO, the Director of High School (Grades 9-12) serves as the primary instructional and operational leader of the high school. The Director is responsible for ensuring that all students are educated and supported in a rigorous, safe, and inclusive environment that aligns with the mission of Chester Charter Scholars Academy (CCSA). The Director works collaboratively with staff, students, and families to promote academic excellence, foster a positive school culture, and drive continuous improvement. This is a 12-month, full-time position. Qualifications Minimum of five years of successful experience in education, with at least one year in a school leadership role Experience working in an urban school environment required Strong commitment to arts-integrated curriculum and culturally responsive pedagogy Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to lead collaboratively and strategically Master’s degree required; must possess or be eligible for Pennsylvania Principal or Supervisory Certification Satisfactory criminal background, child abuse, and FBI clearances Summary of Major Responsibilities School Leadership Promote and embody the mission and vision of CCSA Support the implementation of the school’s strategic goals and initiatives Communicate effectively with students, staff, and families Model and promote high expectations for ethical behavior, professionalism, and collaboration Prioritize the integration of the arts with academic instruction Engage stakeholders in meaningful dialogue and decision-making Support the development and enhancement of high school programming, including post-secondary planning Report to the Head of School/CEO and perform additional duties as assigned, including participation in board meetings as needed Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, families, and staff Instructional Leadership Establish and maintain high academic and behavioral expectations for students and staff Oversee the educational and character development of all students Collaborate with the Head of School, Director of Elementary School, Director of Middle School, Dean of High School Academics, and colleagues across the K-12 continuum to align and monitor curriculum, instruction, and assessment Implement high-quality professional development to enhance instructional practices and improve student outcomes Analyze and act on assessment data to inform teaching and learning Regularly observe classroom instruction and provide constructive feedback to teachers Ensure compliance with local and state testing requirements Lead the adoption and integration of research-based instructional technology Oversee the recruitment, hiring, supervision, and evaluation of high school staff School Culture Development Model and promote standards for positive and supportive staff-student relationships necessary in a high-performing school Implement systems of support that promote respectful, engaged, and motivated learners through team-based and individualized positive behavior supports Conduct regular town hall meetings to reinforce expectations and build a positive school culture Celebrate student achievements and milestones publicly and regularly Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in staffing, curriculum, and student programming Build strong partnerships with families, community organizations, and donors Ensure consistent and fair implementation of discipline and attendance policies aligned with the school’s mission and values Compensation Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
