SUMMARY:

This position serves as an educational leader in the high school with responsibility to assist in providing leadership and organizational management for the operation of the high school, under the direction of the High School Principal. The Assistant Principal is responsible for student discipline, attendance, student activities and various staff and student related activities. This position coordinates student programs and assists in the preparation of the budget and administrative reports and programs in accordance with district policies and procedures. The position is responsible for providing a safe/orderly environment conducive to learning. The Assistant High School Principal provides leadership, administrative and supervisory skills for the educational development of students as well as to promote parent and community involvement. The incumbent works with other members of the high school in meeting department goals and objectives in support of the ELANCO mission to provide a social and educational environment for the students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Works with the High School Principal to establish an organizational structure and educational programs that are conducive to creating conditions of success for all students to meet high educational standards. Assists the High School Principal in providing a safe and orderly environment for student achievement and the continuing productivity of staff for the purpose of meeting strategic goals. With the High School Principal, coordinates and supervises all activities and programs conducted at the building level. With the High School Principal, is responsible for the overall achievement, welfare and conduct of students within the building. Works actively with the High School Principal and teachers to develop and maintain high curriculum standards. Maintains compliance with school law and district policy. Initiates and conducts teacher, student and parent conferences regarding attendance and discipline. Promotes and maintains open communication, positive attitudes, respect and self worth between students, staff, parents and the community. Initiates PSSA and 4sight testing. Handles data interpretation and decision making. Handles group 9, 10 and Literacy and transition of 8th to 9th. Coordinates field trips and assemblies and student activities. Serves as a learning focus team member. Handles supervision of curricular departments. Attends IEP and GIEP meetings. Facilitates the preparation of the student calendar handbook. Check on student attendance. Monitors hallways as appropriate. With the High School Principal, evaluates the implementation of programs within the building and provides training as needed. Evaluates the performance of staff, with the High School Principal, and provides opportunity for improvement or takes other steps as necessary. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other administrators, employees, parents and members of the community. Interacts and/or collaborates with other administrators, students, parents and representatives of the community. Attends evening activities. Promotes and maintains parental and community involvement

QUALIFICATIONS
