Assistant Principal 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars Swiftwater, PA 18370 Vacancy Notice The Pocono Mountain School District wishes to inform you of the following posted anticipated vacancy for the 2025-2026 school year: Assistant Principal, 12 month position Candidates must have: a minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience or educational specialist experience preferably at the applicable school level; the appropriate Pennsylvania Principal Certification; possess knowledge of educational trends, research and innovative practices in education; demonstrate effective communication strategies to interact with a variety of audiences. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Assists in the general supervision and direction of all professional and support staff and is responsible for the formal evaluation of staff members. Serves as instructional leader within the building, ensuring proper placement of students within the overall educational program. Supervises school discipline and attendance programs which require working with staff, students, and parents to ensure that discipline is consistent with policy and students maintain acceptable attendance patterns. Meets and is able to effectively communicate with parents and parental groups plus occasionally represents the school district to other outside groups. Plans, attends, and sometimes presides over meetings with staff on various tasks, projects, initiatives and departmental/curriculum areas. Responsible for overall physical plant, ensuring that the building is safe and sanitary and operated within acceptable standards. Assists in working with building and grounds, cafeteria and maintenance staff to achieve these standards. Performs various administrative tasks as assigned by the principal such as completing internal and external forms, submitting reports as required, developing the master schedule, maintaining accurate records, and administering the labor agreements in a fair and consistent manner. Assists with the preparation of the building budget making certain that equipment and supply requisitions are prepared under established guidelines. Assists with selection, assignment, orientation, and training of the school’s professional and support staff. Keeps abreast of current trends in profession by participating in professional organizations, attendance at conferences and seminars, and being familiar with various available literatures. Assists in the coordination of the high school extracurricular programs and conducts evaluations based on attendance at those events. Assist in the development and implementation of the school improvement plan. Aides in the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision that is shared and supported by all stakeholders. Helps establish goals and building initiatives. Acts with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner. Understands, responds to, and influences the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context. Under the guidance of the principal, advocates, nurtures, and sustains a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional development. Collaborates with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources. Assists in the supervision, assessment, and monitoring of student performance using objective and verifiable information, including standardized, criterion-referenced, district, and teacher made tests. Assists and helps coordinate the planning of district, state, and federal testing. Coordinates student assemblies, parental functions, and assists with the planning of yearly commencement ceremony. Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal.
