This role leads a multidisciplinary team-including special educators, social workers, English language development staff-to ensure every student receives personalized, high-quality support aligned with their unique needs. ResponsibilitiesDuties LeadershipCoordination of Specialized Services Oversee and manage all specialized services, including social work, special education, MTSS, English Language Learner (ELL) programming, and low incidence classrooms. Supervise the social work team, providing regular feedback, managing caseloads, conducting performance reviews, and ensuring timely crisis response and ongoing family communication. Lead the I&RS (InterventionReferral Services) process to identify and support students requiring additional interventions. Chair manifestation determination meetings and collaborate closely with culture and case management teams to support disciplinary processes, behavior plans, and student reintegration. Collaborate with leadership to develop and implement training programs for staff and special education teams focused on best practices such as SDIs (specially designed instruction), accommodations, and classroom modifications. Program DevelopmentMonitoring Design and oversee the MTSS program, including data-driven groupings, intervention scheduling, teacher training, and ongoing monitoring of student progress and intervention fidelity. Develop and implement a comprehensive year-long training and coaching plan for case managers and special education staff to ensure consistent instructional quality and compliance with IEP goals. Coordinate ELL services by observing instructional delivery, providing feedback, scheduling groups based on student proficiency, and ensuring state-required assessments are conducted. FamilyCommunity Engagement Maintain ongoing, transparent communication with families regarding student programming, evaluations, placement decisions, and any concerns. Facilitate parent meetings related to specialized services and disciplinary reinstatements, building collaborative partnerships that support student success. Staff DevelopmentEvaluation Conduct formal and informal observations of special education and intervention staff, provide actionable feedback, and support professional growth through targeted PD sessions. Collaborate with assistant principals and leadership teams to ensure alignment of specialized programming within co-teaching and general education classrooms. SchedulingAdministrative Oversight Build and maintain schedules for case managers, intervention groups, and ELL services to optimize staff effectiveness and student outcomes. Ensure compliance with all federal and state special education regulations and maintain accurate, comprehensive student records. Qualifications Experience leading specialized services teams in an urban or charter school setting, with strong knowledge of special education law, academic and social-emotional interventions, and ELL programming. Demonstrated success managing multi-disciplinary teams and coordinating complex intervention and evaluation processes. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with students, families, staff, and community partners. Strong organizational, data analysis, and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and student-centered outcomes. EducationExperience Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in special education, school leadership, or a related field strongly preferred. Pennsylvania teaching certification in Special Education required; PA Administrative certification strongly preferred Proven track record of improving academic and behavioral outcomes for diverse learners through leadership and innovative programming
