Hours:
8:00am-3:00pm Not to exceed $12,460 (contingent upon enrollment and funding) PPSD seeks summer ESY school administrators. Under direction of the Executive Director and level Managers of the Office of Specialized Instruction and Services, the principal will be the administrator in charge and responsible for the successful administration of the ESY program. The principal will plan for classroom and facility use. The principal will also acquire all of the necessary supplies and materials, ensure that students are properly scheduled, maintain a safe, orderly and effective learning environment, foster positive communications with the school community (including parents), and oversee daily operations during the entire ESY program. The principal will obtain all final data and documentation from teachers and ensure they are passed on to the appropriate level manager from the Office of Specialized Instruction and Services. The principal will submit a final report to the Executive Director of Specialized Instruction and Services.
EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
Must hold the appropriate administrator level certification issued by the Rhode Island Department of Education. Special Education Administrator certification preferred Must not be a current 12•month administrator. Building administrator certification required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS STANDARDS
Must be able to demonstrate superior interpersonal communications and written skills. Must be able to enact school policies and discipline procedures with fairness and equity. Must be able to enact emergency procedures when and if necessary. Must be able to work collaboratively with all ESY school staff. Must have evidence of successful implementation of district’s instructional initiatives.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND CURRICULAR LINKAGES
Reports directly to the Executive Director of Specialized Instruction and Services. Assumes responsibility for pre-session logistics, scheduling, assignments of teachers and student enrollment. Assumes responsibility of the administrator for the ESY program as it involves instruction in accordance with students’ IEPs. Keeps accurate records. Manages personnel, fiscal accountability. Verifies and prepares time sheets. Supervises all staff and their duties associated with the operation of the program. Responsible for all closing procedures as with the collection and submission of data and program report/evaluation
