Middle School Principal Reports To:

Superintendent Position Open Until Filled.

Qualifications:

A Master’s Degree, with a major in educational administration. A valid South Carolina teaching certificate to practice as a school principal. At least three years experience in public school administration and supervision. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

Performance Responsibilities:
Performance Responsibilities:

Supervises the school’s educational program; Assumes responsibility for the implementation and observances of all board polices and regulations by the school’s staff and students; Assists in the development, revision, and evaluation of the curriculum; Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating all of the school’s professional staff; Assumes responsibility for the safety and administration of the school facility; Plans and supervises fire drills and an emergency preparedness program; Maintains high standards of student conduct and enforces discipline as necessary, according due process to the rights of students; Coordinates the full range of extracurricular activities; Supervises the preparation of all school reports for state, local, and national authority; Supervises the maintenance of accurate records on the progress and attendance of students; Recommends the removal of a teacher whose work is unsatisfactory according to established procedures; Interprets the school’s program to the community and enlists the participation of the community in school life; Keeps informed of trends, developments, and research as they pertain to education and school operation; Conducts regular classroom observations in accordance with the Superintendent’s guidelines; Participates in required training (conferences, meetings, and webinars) as assigned; Perfoms other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages and supervises certified and classified employees in the assigned school. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Some driving is required. Frequent writing is required. Occasional travel and/or overnight travel may be required.
