Job Responsibilities A New Student Orientation Coordinator (NSOC) plays a vital role in shaping the first experiences of incoming students and their families by leading the development and execution of comprehensive orientation programs. This position is responsible for fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports student success and engagement from the moment of admission through the start of the academic year. The NSOC coordinates all aspects of orientation programming, including planning schedules, organizing events, managing logistics, and collaborating with campus departments to ensure that students are well-informed and connected to key resources and support systems. In addition to managing orientation logistics, the NSOC recruits, trains, and supervises student orientation leaders, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities to enhance peer leadership on campus. Clear communication with students and families is a central aspect of the role, requiring the ability to deliver timely, accurate, and engaging information across various platforms. Outside of orientation season, the NSOC supports the broader mission of Student Life and/or Enrollment Management by assisting with recruitment initiatives, student engagement efforts, and cross-campus programming. This position requires creativity, strong organizational skills, and a passion for student development and institutional success. This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus. Minimum and Additional Requirements A bachelor’s degree and experience in student services program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications A master’s degree with experience in college orientation programming is highly desirable. A bachelor’s degree, or an associate’s degree with two (2) years of experience in student affairs (i.e., residence life/student housing, student conduct, admissions, recruitment, student health services, and/or student leadership development) in higher education preferred.
