Job Responsibilities
The Success Coach works closely with the Office of Student Success, and Enrollment Management to support high school students enrolled in SCC dual enrollment courses throughout Spartanburg County. The Success Coach helps students develop skills, behaviors and habits that contribute to successful course completion. These includes learning strategies, time management and organization, self-regulation and self-efficacy. Success Coaches will travel to a variety of high schools throughout the county and work directly with students and course instructors teaching in the high schools to ensure students are supported as they complete SCC dual enrollment courses, and other academic related issues to assist the student in making decisions concerning educational goals leading to graduation.
Fosters persistence and completion by maintaining a caseload of dual enrollment students; utilizes college’s early alert retention software as part of this caseload maintenance. Monitors progress of students in caseload with check-ins, scheduled meetings or proactive outreach and communication, responding to student questions, concerns and needs. Assists senior dual student with FAFSA completion if continuing at SCC post-graduation.
Partners with course instructors at the high schools to discuss student performance and identify academic at-risk students.
Leads workshops on academic success strategies and any other related areas involving student success. Helps students in identifying, developing, and implementing learning strategies and study skills specific to course materials. Provides information about campus resources and college success strategies.
Assists with development of goals, objectives, and learning outcomes for the Office of Student Success, in support of the college’s strategic plan. Implements office of Student Sucess retention and persistence-based initiatives. Collaborates with various areas within and outside of Enrollment Management and Student Success to facilitate student success, retention, and persistence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs. Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in related field with 3 years experience in student services programs. Additional Comments
