Spartanburg School District Three is seeking a visionary and experienced Director of Secondary Education to lead and support the district’s secondary programs with a relentless focus on academic excellence, equity, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate must demonstrate a proven track record of raising student achievement as a high school principal and possess the capacity to lead with clarity, coherence, and innovation.

240 day employee Key responsibilities include : Leading professional learning communities Supporting teacher clarity through implementation of learning intentions and success criteria Designing and refining student learning pathways across secondary schools Serving as the AVID District Director and supporting site-level implementation and training Managing federal and CTE programs, including Perkins compliance and audit documentation Providing oversight of Daniel Morgan Technology Center programs in alignment with workforce needs Directing the district’s Project Lead the Way (PLTW) programs and related instructional support Coordinating the Spartanburg County Public Virtual Program, including student admissions Overseeing Adult Education, GED programming, and proficiency-based reporting to support graduation Implementing new academic standards and training for teachers and administrators Monitoring benchmark assessments, pacing guides, and high school course sequencing Managing Carnegie Credit middle school courses and LBA offerings Overseeing End of Course subjects, results analysis, and honors course approvals Applying the district’s honors rubric and maintaining consistent implementation of uniform grading Supporting student transition plans, reviewing retentions, and supervising Career Development Facilitators (CDFs) Reviewing and approving early graduation applications Ensuring compliance with instructional policies and guiding the District Literacy Framework Any other duties assigned by the Chief Academic Officer Statement of Non-Discrimination Spartanburg School District Three does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, disability or age in its programs or activities and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.
