Job Description The Professional Advisor at Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) serves as a dedicated advocate for undergraduate student success. Focused on retention, persistence, graduation, and holistic development, this role is the primary point of contact for students throughout their undergraduate journey. The Professional Advisor implements higher education best practices in academic advising, supports students in achieving their academic and career goals, and fosters a positive and inclusive campus experience.

Required Qualifications Education:

Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of two years of experience in academic advising or student support services in higher education. Familiarity with retention and persistence strategies in undergraduate settings. Demonstrated success in guiding students through academic planning and personal development.

Preferred Qualifications Education:

Masters degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

Job Duty Serve as the primary advisor for a caseload of undergraduate students.
Job Duty Guide students through course selection, registration, and academic planning, ensuring alignment with degree requirements.
Job Duty Provide guidance on university policies, academic resources, and extracurricular opportunities.
Job Duty Act as the central communication hub for students, connecting them with faculty, campus resources, and support services.
Job Duty Maintain accurate and timely records of advising sessions and student interactions using the institution s advising platform.
Job Duty Apply evidence-based strategies to support retention and persistence, such as intrusive advising and developmental advising models.
Job Duty Collaborate with faculty advisors and university stakeholders to enhance advising practices and student outcomes.
Job Duty Collect, analyze, and report data on advising outcomes, retention rates, and student success initiatives.
Job Duty Use data insights to refine advising practices and improve student success metrics.
Job Duty Stay informed about trends and innovations in higher education advising and student success.
Job Duty Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance advising skills.
Job Duty Support institutional and program accreditation processes related to student success.
Job Duty Assist with university events, orientation programs, and workshops designed to engage and retain students.
