Job Description Assistant Principal Responsible to:
Principal Qualifications:
Valid TN Teacher’s License with appropriate endorsement Valid TN Administrator’s License A minimum of a Master’s Degree Teaching experience required Strong written, verbal, presentation and interpersonal skills Competent technological skills
Essential Responsibilities:
Serve as the Principal designee in his/her absence Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school Participate in data review and monitor instructional needs based on data analysis to include implementation of the state and local curriculum Assists in monitoring the effect of school practices and their impact on student learning Coordinates with the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in curriculum development and the implementation of state standards Assists in providing conceptual guidance for teachers regarding effective classroom practice Visit classrooms, observes and assists in evaluation of teachers and students at work Assists with faculty, student, and parent communication Assists with proposals and planning in-service activities, faculty meeting agendas, and team meetings with staff Assists with staff activities in annual School Improvement Planning and SACS annual updates Assists with supervision of certified and classified employees and departments as assigned by the principal, and regularly reviews and evaluates performance Assists with state mandated testing and other system directed tests Assists with organizing and implementing staff development opportunities Prepares reports and materials and performs record-keeping functions Assists in maintaining discipline throughout the school and deals with discipline referrals and special cases as necessary Assists with leadership for all student activities Assists with preparing extracurricular and extra-duty schedules Participates in scheduled student support team meetings as the Principal’s designee Assists in supervising student events during school day and attends/supervises after school events Assists in ensuring the school follows all laws and policies related to attendance and district accountability stated in the TN Student Membership and Attendance Accountability Procedures Manual for reporting purposes Assists with preparing schedules of classes and activities Assist with requisitions of supplies, textbooks and equipment; conducts inventories, maintains records, and verifies receipt of such materials Assists with monitoring physical maintenance issues of the building and campus Assist in the preparation of the school budget and financial operations of the school Assists in the development of the emergency preparedness plans, safety inspections, and drills Works with community groups (PTA, Advisory Committees, etc.) Assumes responsibility for his/her own professional growth and development through attendance at workshops, regional meetings, and professional organizations Observe all rules and regulations relative to the operation of the schools as established by law and as contained in the Rules, Regulations, and Minimum Standards of the
State Board of Education General Requirements:
