The Director of Advising reports to the Dean of Student Services and supports student success and retention by ensuring quality, proactive and holistic academic advising and responsive front-line services. This role will oversee One Stop Center staff on the Dyersburg Campus and professional staff advisors at all DSCC locations, while also providing master advisor training and advising resources for all academic advisors, ensuring students receive consistent, well-informed guidance throughout enrollment. The official station for this position is the Dyersburg Campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports the mission and vision of the College by working collaboratively with faculty, chairs/program directors, academic administrators, and student services staff to ensure success of the college’s proactive, relational, guided pathways advising model.
Provides direct student advisement to current and prospective students on the college’s class scle offerings, academic pathways, prerequisites, transfer and career programs, prores and resources in-person, on the phone, or virtually. Instruct students how to navigate the DSCC , MyDSCC Banner™ Self-Service, use of online forms, academic plan software Ellucian Degree Works™, and advise them on the use of other college resources and online tools.
Provides oversight of professional staff advisors at all DSCC locations. Maintains an online academic advising scle to ensure adequate staffing coverage for peak advising periods, enrollment events, and new student orientation programs to ce wait times. Works with faculty and department chairs to coordinate advising support for peak enrollment periods and events.
Plans and conducts DSCC Master Advisor training for new faculty and staff members identified by their supervisor to serve as an advisor for all DSCC locations that includes both virtual and hands-on instruction. Advising tools and materials should support in-person, virtual and telephone advising sessions.
Support training on the use of advising technologies such as, but not limited to, Ellucian® Banner Student Information System and Banner Self-Service, Ellucian® Degree Works™ and Slate© Student Success. Plans and conducts professional development for current master advisors to keep them up to date on curriculum changes, degree requirements, and best advising practices.
Demonstrates kledge of enrollment processes, admissions requirements, and all certificate and degree programs.
Updates the college’s online advising resource materials, ensuring accurate and current information.
Sclesmunications to both advisors and current students regarding advisement and registration in advance of and throughout each registration period.
Supervises the daily operation of the One Stop Center on the Dyersburg Campus and provides direct support to students during high-volume times.
Coordinates One Stop Center activities and ensures quality customer service practices are observed. Provides training and updates to One Stop Center staff as directed. Scles training sessions for One Stop Center staff with Admissions, Records, Financial Aid and Student Financial Services personnel.
Ensures visitors to the One Stop Center receive accurate counsel regarding the application process for admission to the college, financial aid availability, and institutional policies and prores.
Oversee the functions performed in the One Stop Center including various financial transactions with students and non-students, perform cashiering duties including all aspects of student registration, receipting of student payments, receipting sponsor payments.
Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Sedentary:

Desk work; travel will be required for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other than normal movement.

Minimal Hazard/Exposure:

Standard office settings. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health andfort. Besides frequent person to person interactions with students, faculty and staff, this position requires significantmunication by telephone and other electronic means.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
Kledge of modern office practices, prores, and equipment including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook.
Willingness to learn new software applications.
Ability toprehend, interpret and DSCC policies and prores.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to pay attention to detail and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a counseling field from a regionally accredited institution at least three years advising experience in highercation.
Bachelor’s degree in any field with at least five years of demonstrably successful advising experience in highercation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Experience in academic advising at amunity college, preferably a publicmunity college.
Experience working with college student groups including traditional, adult, veterans and dual enrollment and middle college participants.
Minimum starting pay is $54,000 annually ($27.70 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum pay of $67,500.
