Compensation Base Pay:

$69,000 This is an estimate based on the lowest number of years of service and degrees earned. Houston County High School seeks an assistant principal who will partner with the principal to advance the school’s mission of academic excellence and student success. Drawing on a commitment to understand and grow instructional best practices, data-driven decision-making, and community engagement, the assistant principal supports and supervises professional and classified staff, oversees daily operations, from curriculum implementation and assessment to student discipline and facility management, and ensures compliance with Tennessee Board of Education policies and Houston County School District regulations. In this role, you will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and foster strong partnerships with students, families, and community stakeholders in a rural setting. Working collaboratively with the principal, you will co-lead instructional programs, facilitate professional learning communities, and model a culture conducive to excellence in teaching and learning through regular coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations. Additional responsibilities include coordinating student schedules and extracurricular activities, managing safety drills and campus security protocols, monitoring attendance and implementing interventions to reduce chronic absenteeism, assisting with budget preparation and monitoring expenditures, and serving as a key communicator with parents and community partners. 10% supplement to full-time contract For an Assistant Principal/Athletic Director position, the minimum pay would be $69,000 + $6,900 (10%), which equals 75,900. You will develop and implement policies and procedures that promote student-athlete growth, oversee coaches and athletic support staff, and ensure smooth operation of all sports: boys’ and girls’ golf, cross country, basketball, tennis, baseball, softball, football, girls’ volleyball, and co-ed competitive cheerleading. You will assist coaches in coordinating scheduling, facilities, and officials, manage budget and equipment inventories, and serve as a visible advocate for Houston County athletics by attending all basketball and football contests and supporting other sports events as agreed upon with the building principal.
