Job Summary This position is responsible for assisting in the development, administration, and oversight of many of the programs and services related to the Union EDGE Program. The Union EDGE provides a holistic, post-secondary education for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, encouraging increased independent skills that lead to a better quality of life and aligning with Union’s mission of providing “Christ-centered education that promotes excellence and character development in service to Church and society.”

Essential Job Duties Teach two courses each academic year for EDGE students. Courses likely include, but are not limited to, Life Skills, Social Skills, Academic Skills, and Employment Skills. This includes preparation of class lessons and related materials, responding to student inquiries related to the course, and grading assignments.
Facilitate and guide the registration process for students in the EDGE Program through the advising process by assisting students to select classes, plan their schedule, and encourage positive program outcomes. Assist EDGE team with activities on campus and off campus related to the EDGE program. Assist with students in the EDGE Program, as related to problem solving, providing support, and scheduling as needed. Be responsible for communication with faculty regarding students in their classes, recommneded accommodations, and ongoing progress monitoring. Cultivate collaborative relationships with other departments on campus, including student services, Student Life, and other support services. Serve one week per month in the EDGE Staff On-Call rotation, to provide after-hours support to students, if needed.
Other duties and projects to be determined by the Program Director. Other Job Duties Required Qualifications Graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in special education, social work, or related field. Preferred Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with people with disabilities. Additionally, preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated evidence of excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills; and demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and to conduct oneself in a highly professional and ethical manner. Christian Requirement Successful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University’s Identity, Mission, and Core Values, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life.
