Job Description
•Position for Nashville School of Excellence will be in Nashville.
Requires weekly travel from Nashville to Memphis.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Nashville School of Excellence.
Completes an academic year of clinical experiences (or practicum) that includes:
authentic leadership activities
capstone project,
resident reflection journal,
observation, and
feedback
Serves as a member of the campus Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) at the assigned school and assists the team in implementing instructional practices that include:
Leading and facilitating a learning culture among teachers and staff
Leading and facilitating campus wide data meetings
Observing and overseeing team data meetings
Conducting annual formal teacher observations
Using observation-feedback cycles to provide ongoing coaching to teachers
Planning and co-facilitating campus professional learning (PL) meetings
Planning with PLC leaders
Modeling implementation of key Arc of the Year instructional techniques
Creating and implementing campus improvement plan (CIP)
Supporting teachers in micro credential progress
Providing periodic feedback to district and network leadership teams about instructional programs
Creating and collecting implementation artifacts for bright spots
Collaborates with campus administrators in
Developing guidelines for proper student conduct and implementing disciplinary procedures and policies that ensure a safe and orderly environment at the assigned school
Establishing clear expectations and systems for behaviors, including social and emotional supports
Leading strategies to proactively provide and coordinate student support services
Managing the operation and all other activities and functions which occur at the assigned school
Overseeing student recruitment, enrollment, and retention activities
Recruiting, selecting, and retaining highly effective teachers and staff
Conducting performance appraisals for school personnel
Managing and supervising the school’s financial resources, including the preparation and disbursement of the school’s budget and internal accounts.
Managing all extracurricular and athletic programs at the assigned school
Establishing a professional rapport with students, parents, staff, and community
Using appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement
Any other responsibilities campus principal and assistant principals have as needed
Meets with assigned mentor principal regularly for guidance and feedback on authentic leadership experiences and activities
Selects, with guidance from the mentor principal, a set of authentic leadership activities to reflect a robust, personal professional learning plan for the residency period
Effectively communicates with mentor principal, district and central office staff
Meets regularly with leadership team members and shares in the duties of running the campus
Implements School Board policy, state statutes, and federal regulations as they pertain to the assigned
Participates in working groups of staff and teachers to plan, problem solve, and support one another on an ongoing
Attends meetings, conferences, and
Models’ personal commitment to developing self and others
Displays the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents and school
Weekly travel to assigned campuses to provide leadership and instructional support.
Community Engagement:
Attend local events to build community awareness. Network with local leaders, parents, and educators.
Develop a marketing plan: website, social media, local press. Create clear branding to represent your school’s values.
Schedule regular open houses for prospective families.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to receive, internalize, and implement feedback from multiple sources
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the
Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.

This position is based at Nashville School of Excellence, and the resident is expected to reside in Nashville and travel weekly to Memphis to support leadership efforts across both regions.
