SUMTER COUNTY SCHOOL SYSTEM TITLE

Teacher

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or related Valid teaching certification from the state’s Department of Strong knowledge of child development and educational best Prior teaching experience preferred, especially with elementary or high school students. Ability to differentiate instruction and manage a diverse Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal Competence in using technology for instruction and record-keeping.

JOB GOAL

To lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the designated Develops and maintains a classroom environment conductive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of principal or Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups Strives to implement by instruction and action the Sumter County School System’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect Evaluates student progress on a regular Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, system policy, and administrative Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable Attends and participates in faculty Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Nine months (187) Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications and established by the Board.

EVALUATION

The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
