Performance Responsibilities:

Understands the Montessori beliefs and principles Understands Gifted Education and Academic Prep Performance Prepares, maintains, and submits accurate and complete records and reports as required by the State Board of Education Florida Statutes, the board of trustees, and administrative procedures. Supports and follows the student learning plan. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative procedures and board policies. Fulfills the terms of the written contract, unless released from the contract Maintains a classroom environment which is safe, orderly, and conducive to effective learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated. Prepares and maintains lesson plans for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of the Head of School. Works with students to create a classroom environment that is conducive to teaching and learning. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of all individuals or student groups involved. Implements developmentally appropriate student activities. Works with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills. Implements behavior plans. Practices positive child behavior and management techniques in the classroom by using natural consequences. Cares and maintains classroom materials and maintains a clean, orderly environment. Maintains current, accurate attendance and classroom records. Supervises students at all times. Supervises and facilitates other duties such as morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, recess, student lunch, and student transition within the facility. Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, planning meetings, and any special meetings requested by the head of school. Assists with children’s mobility around the classroom, school and play areas. Participates in professional growth activities. Assists the children in developing self-help skills such as dressing, eating, health, safety and hygiene. Prepares written reports and attend parent conferences as requested by the head of school. Shares the responsibility for the safety and physical well being of the students at all times and reports all accidents at once to the front office and/or parents. Protects the privacy and working atmosphere of the group and the school as a whole. Supervise the children in the execution of fire drills and other emergency drills. Remains flexible and cooperative, and supports a positive environment for all. Supervises the testing program of the school and reports the results to the parents. Adheres to applicable rules for confidentiality of information. Presents information to others with clear written and spoken abilities Works as part of a team Displays calm, professional and positive demeanor in all interactions and communications with a diversity of individuals Uses appropriate classroom instructional and behavioral management techniques. Problem-solves. Operates standard equipment for the position, including—but not limited to—computers and required software programs. Incorporates technology in the classroom on a consistent basis. Adheres to Charlotte Preparatory and State of Florida guidelines and professional standards in order to maintain quality and excellence.
