Lower School Teacher 1st Gade 2.6 2.6 out of 5 stars Windermere, FL 34786 Windermere Preparatory School has an opening for an elementary educator in our Lower School 1st Grade for the 25-26 school year. As a WPS elementary school teacher, you have the opportunity to set the tone for learning for the rest of a student’s life. When students have a good, educational, happy experience during elementary school, they are more prepared to take on the challenges of middle school, high school, and college. We expect that you are able to teach students to love learning and also how to overcome the challenges and obstacles they face that keep them from reaching their goals. While adhering to the core curriculum as outlined by Windermere Preparatory School, you are asked to find creative, engaging ways to teach students real-life applications of all content areas. Experience with the IB PYP curriculum is preferred. Any necessary IB PYP training and professional development will be made a priority for the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
Work collaboratively with the grade level team members on curriculum, instruction and assessment. Develop and deliver learning experiences with a focus on cross-curricular connections. Support the social-emotional development of students with a focus on teamwork, collaboration, sportspersonship, problem solving and conflict resolution. Work in partnership with faculty, parents, and administration as an advocate for student success. Exercise proactive class management within an atmosphere of respect and community following the Responsive Classroom approach. Follow academic reporting and other school protocols as applicable. Attend and participate in regular faculty meetings and interdisciplinary collaborations. Take an active role in the Windermere Preparatory School community by attending and supporting school events outside of the regular school day. Model the attributes of the school crest: Virtus, Veritas, and Unitas The successful candidate will have the following skills, background, and interests: A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, preferably in Education or a related field. Prior experience teaching in a lower school setting, preferably in an independent school (minimum 3 years) Experience with the IB PYP curriculum is preferred. Teaching certification preferred Prior experience developing cross-curriculum and/or inquiry based units Ability to articulate the Mission and Vision of the schoo Evidence and commitment to a collaborative approach with a team of talented educators Ability to take direction, provide feedback and execute plans accordingly Desire to provide inspirational learning experiences for students Create an environment that fosters a growth mindset for students.
