Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated elementary classroom teachers to join our founding instructional team. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the inaugural staff of a brand-new school and play a critical role in shaping our school culture, instructional approach, and student success. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, flexible, collaborative, and deeply committed to student achievement and character development.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based lessons in all core subject areas (ELA, math, science, and social studies). Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including English Language Learners and students with exceptionalities. Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that promotes student voice and a love of learning. Utilize data to inform instruction, assess student progress, and adjust teaching strategies to improve learning outcomes. Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support each child’s academic and social-emotional growth. Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and community partners to support interdisciplinary learning experiences Participate in ongoing professional development, school-wide initiatives, and team planning. Support the broader school community by offering and participating in extracurricular programs, school-wide events, and performances that enrich student life and promote school spirit. Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Somerset Academy Avenir.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or related field (required). Valid Florida teaching certification or eligibility to obtain certification (required). Prior classroom teaching experience preferred, but not required for exceptional new graduates. Strong classroom management skills and a student-centered teaching philosophy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.
