PRIMARY PURPOSE

Must be certified through GAPSC. Special Education preferred . Provide daily education and weekly educational program planning to students with emotionally disturbances. Teach academic and social skills in an environment that requires the consistent exercise of discretion and good judgment and is of a predominately intellectual and varied nature with output that is impossible to standardize.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. Prepare and implement lesson plans utilizing the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards (CCGPS) within the EATS Instructional Framework for Hillside students. B. Maintain good working relationship with the Atlanta Public School System and all other school systems to ensure smooth transitions for our students. C. Prepare Hillside students to enter the public school system by scheduling transition meetings as well as working with families and schools during the transition period for a seamless return to the public school environment. D. Teach lessons aligned to CCGPS, assign academic and behavioral grades to students at 9 week intervals, as well as reporting daily attendance and discipline data. E. Work with other staff members to achieve IEP and treatment goals. F. Report any alleged case of patient abuse to the Chief Executive Officer immediately. G. Attend all required Professional Learning activities as requested by the Education Director. H. Maintain accurate documentation of all IEP goals. Develop, review and maintain IEPs and Eligibilities on all students. I. Perform entrance, benchmark, exit and other requested achievement testing on Hillside students. Administer required Career and College Ready Interest Inventories to all students. J. Ensure Hillside Accessibility Plan is adhered to by assuring the removal of barriers to the greatest extent possible that may hinder those served, staff and/or other stakeholders. K. Maintain at least monthly contact with the parents/guardians of all students on your caseload. L. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the Education Director.

EDUCATION

Bachelor Degree in Special Education. Must be Certified by the State of Georgia in Special Education and be Highly Qualified in at least two core academic areas.

EXPERIENCE

Three years in teaching with emphasis on emotional and behavioral disturbance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must submit to an annual physical exam.

MISCELLANEOUS REQUIREMENTS

Must not have a record of felony or misdemeanor convictions.

SUPERVISION GIVEN

Various students during class time. Various behavioral specialists assigned to the teacher as a teacher’s aid during class time.

WORK SCHEDULE

7:45 A.M. to 3:45 P.M., Monday through Friday. Personnel will work a regular schoolwork day on school planning days.
