Job Description
Parthum Elementary School is seeking an ESL teacher responsible for supporting English Language Learners (ELLs) in core subjects, with the possibility of providing pull-out services as necessary. The ESL teacher holds primary responsibility for designing and implementing direct ESL instruction to help students access grade-level curriculum, and for collaborating with teachers to provide English language support in other content areas.
The ideal candidate believes that all students are capable of learning and thrives in a collaborative environment with a strong grade-level team. Experience with co-teaching, inclusion practices, and collaborative planning is recommended.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Administer diagnostic and state-mandated assessments for English Language Learners
  • Evaluate, set goals, and track progress for individual ELLs; communicate results with students, faculty, and families
  • Maintain ELL records in accordance with DESE standards
  • Provide direct ESL instruction to small groups and/or inclusion support within general education classes
  • Support ELL students in accessing grade-level curriculum and building ELA skills
  • Incorporate technology-enhanced learning tools to support English language acquisition
  • Advise teachers on curriculum modifications/accommodations for ELLs and share best practices for sheltered content instruction
  • Participate in Panther

  • Engage in grade-level and content vertical planning meetings
  • Attend student support and team meetings
  • Participate in curriculum nights, report card nights, and other building-wide meetings
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of second language acquisition and best practices in ESL instruction
  • Strong classroom management and student engagement strategies
  • Ability to modify curriculum and provide language scaffolds
  • Effective collaboration and co-teaching experience
  • Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices
  • Data-driven instruction and progress monitoring
  • Use of technology in language instruction
  • Understanding of Massachusetts
