Job Description
The Chickering Elementary School in Dover, MA seeks a talented and compassionate Spanish teacher for
2025-2026
The successful candidate will provide content-rich classes conducted in Spanish using a developmentally
appropriate curriculum that is integrated with other subjects. Our Spanish classes are focused on speaking and
listening and cultural studies.
Each K-5 classroom gets approximately 3 Spanish classes per week for a total of 120-minutes of Spanish
content. The person who fills this role will work with two other Spanish teachers at the school and in
collaboration with the elementary Foreign Language Department.
We seek a licensed educator who values and respects children and who is a strong collaborator, a reflective
learner, and a dynamic practitioner. The teacher is expected to teach curriculum using engaging and
innovative pedagogy. In addition, the teacher will maintain a classroom community predicated on mutual
respect, positive relationships, and empowerment for meaningful learning. A successful candidate will have a
Bachelors or Masters degree. Effective strategies for engaging and empowering students, cultural proficiency
and responsiveness, and differentiating learning are essential. Additional responsibilities include
communication with families, participation in faculty and grade level team meetings, and
curriculum/assessment development.

Qualifications:

DESE licensure
Knowledge of elementary pedagogy and best practices
Ability to work in professional learning community model
Leadership skills
Organizational skills
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to form positive relationships and convey a sense of caring and respect for others

Certification Requirements:

Massachusetts Teacher License – Foreign Language PK-6
