Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS
Develops curricular materials for ESL elementary students
Supports ESL teachers by providing staff development and model lessons
Conducts workshops for mainstream teachers on the use of the Guide to the Standard Course of Study for LEP Students
Assists schools in administering the Idea Proficiency Test (IPT) and the NCAAAI
Represents CMS at parent meetings
Serves as the ESL representative on the Elementary Service Integration Team
Responds to ESL site principals’ requests for program support through on-site visits
List in order of importance those marginal functions and activities for which this position is accountable directly or through subordinates.
Performs related duties as assigned
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge of:
State and federal regulations in regard to LEP students
Principles, theory, and practice of language acquisition programs
Appropriate assessment for LEP students
Linguistic and cultural diversity
Ability to:
Plan ESL instruction for a wide range of student ages and abilities
Integrate the use of technology into the instructional program
Communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
Conduct training sessions and workshops
Develop curricular documents for ESL and mainstream teachers of LEP students
Mentor new ESL teachers
