DESCRIPTION K-12 ENL
Teacher
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY
The
K-12 ENL
teacher will create a welcoming and inclusive class environment favorable to learning and personal growth for all students in alignment with the district’s mission and core commitments. The ENL teacher will provide instruction to students who have limited English proficiency by creating a classroom environment that develops competencies, knowledge, and skills in accordance with each student’s ability.
IMPROVING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY
Curriculum & Instruction + Plan and implement instruction based upon district standards and best instructional practices aligned to the K-12 instructional model. + Implement the instructional program, including practices to support a multi-tiered system of support. + Establish positive relationships and rapport with students, parents, and staff members. + Understand and implement culturally responsive curriculum which is standards based. + Serve as Case Manager for their case load of students, by ensuring that English Language Learners’ needs are met as per NYS Regulations. Assessment + Utilize formative and summative assessment to monitor and differentiate instructional practice based upon English Language Learners. + Analyze class building, district, and state assessment data to inform curriculum implementation and instructional decisions. + Document student progress, learning, and outcomes; address specific educational needs of students; and provide feedback to students, parents/guardians and administration regarding student progress. + Administer

for new entrants, as needed, and administer the
NYSESLAT
annually for all English Language Learners. Resource Management + Create a safe and positive learning environment to support all students. + Maintain professional competence through in-service education, coursework, and professional growth activities. Working with Students + Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to be productive citizens. + Continually support student growth academically, socially and emotionally. Maintaining Effective Communication with the Community + Collaborate with colleagues, district leadership and families to create a classroom culture that supports high expectations for student learning. + Provide regular and effective communication w/families to support home/school connections. Other + Abide by employment provisions provided for in the collective bargaining agreement. + Mandatory reporter for incidents of child abuse, harassment, intimidation, bullying, fights, substance abuse etc. + Observe strict confidentiality regarding student data and information.
QUALIIFICATIONS
+ Valid teaching certificate for the State of New York with required endorsement in area of assignment + Prior experience in the school setting preferred, but not required. + Successful New York State fingerprint clearance
AUTHORITY
+ The
K-12 ENL
teacher is directly responsible to the building principal and district leadership.
