Elementary School Teacher – PreK or Kindergarten St. Joseph School – Yorkville New York, NY Job Details Full-time From $55,000 a year 3 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Retirement plan Qualifications Classroom management Writing skills Teaching Certification Early childhood education Public speaking Mid-level Master’s degree Bachelor’s degree Experience working with students Organizational skills Classroom experience Lesson planning Teaching Full Job Description Responsibilities Instruct school-aged children in activities designed to promote intellectual and creative growth Establish and maintain positive relationships with students and parents Communicate with parents on students’ growth and progress Maintain the health and safety of all students Creates and maintains a positive and well-managed classroom environment that engages students and motivates them to succeed Assumes responsibility for the academic progress of students with a high sense of urgency and ownership towards quantifiable results Is accountable for student and classroom performance goals Develops weekly written lesson plans that correlate with Archdiocese of NY curriculum, goals and objectives Collaborates with colleagues to plan units and lessons and develop expertise in implementing instruction Supports the school’s mission of promoting a strong academic program, a faith-filled community, and a family environment Uses tests, assessments, classroom performance and other designated evaluation and diagnostic tools to assess the progress of students in order to create individual learning plans and to identify curricular and professional development needs Is knowledgeable in Common Core Learning Standards Participates in on-going professional development Qualifications At least two years classroom experience (student teaching and substitute time accepted, full time experience preferred) A diligent work ethic and a perseverance to overcome challenges The ability and commitment to use data and regular assessment to inform instructional decisions Passionate about working with children building rapport Positive and patient demeanor Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers Strong instructional differentiation and classroom management skills Outstanding public speaking and writing skills Technological proficiency and adaptability (i.e., SMART Board, iPads, etc.) Excellent organizational skills Bachelor’s Degree (required), Master’s Degree (preferred) New York State Teaching Certificate or Equivalent (preferred) Must pass background check About St. Joseph’s School – Yorkville Founded in 1880, St. Joseph’s School – Yorkville is a dynamic, culturally diverse, close-knit community for students in Pre-K 3 through Grade 8.
