Assistant Principal Evaluation:

This position is evaluated at least annually by the CEO/principal or certified designee. Evaluation is to be based upon fulfillment of duties and responsibilities listed in the job description and Danielson Framework.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of research and trends in teaching and learning styles. Demonstration of applied knowledge of curriculum and the fundamental principles of psychology and human development. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to meet timelines. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret, write reports. Ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to the instructional program. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff, and parents through oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all GMCS, state, and federal requirements. Ability to plan and implement lessons based on GMCS’ curriculum and the school’s objectives and student needs and abilities.

Responsibilities:

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties: Work effectively with other staff members in the interdisciplinary setting to address students’ needs. Instruct individuals and groups at appropriate developmental levels, implementing IEP goals and objectives. Participate in the design and implementation of the curriculum. Participate in meetings and in-service training. Collect and analyze data to support the instructional strategies used to meet the needs of students and report this information at Teacher Based Team (TBT) meetings. Implement a full Montessori model classroom and as needed design Montessori materials. Follow the “natural” consequence belief and confidentiality of student management issues according to GMCS’ policies and procedures. Observe children of concern and report to the SAP team. Member of the Child Study Team. Participate in program improvement and school governance. Inform families, administration, and fellow teachers of student progress. Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques. Design performance-based assessment tools. Create a positive learning experience with emphasis on individualized instruction using appropriate resources. Establishes and maintains student control and discipline in the classroom, on school premises, or during school activities. Employs and implements a classroom structure and consistency to encourage student responsibility, cooperation, and mutual respect consistent with district policies and procedures. Teach students to work collaboratively to solve problems and to think logically and creatively. Maintain active and accurate documentation on individual students. Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate these objectives to the students. Build effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and are available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open houses and conferences. Participate in professional growth and development and stay abreast of current research through continuing education, educational seminars, workshops, conferences, and attendance at GMCS-sponsored in-services. Perform other duties as assigned by school administration according to school policies and practices.
