Job Description
Young Scholars of Western Pennsylvania Charter School (YSWPCS) is looking to hire an Elementary School Turkish Language Teacher, in Pittsburgh, PA, who will be responsible for teaching elementary school students in the courses in Turkish language and related sub-topics. Specifically, the teacher will:
- Prepare course objectives and outlines for courses of study following curriculum guidelines and school requirements;
- Instruct students using various teaching methods
- Assign lessons, correct homework, and administer tests to evaluate student progress;
- Meet with parents to discuss student progress and design and implement individualized programs, after-school tutoring, and remedial sessions as necessary;
- Participate in faculty meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops; and
- Sponsor student activities and student organizations, after-school activities, and run after-school clubs. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field as well as a Teacher Training Certificate for Teaching Turkish to Foreigners. A successful candidate must be fluent in Turkish and have two (2) years of experience in:
- Teaching Turkish language to elementary or middle school students;
- Designing Turkish language curriculum, including course lesson plans and objectives, assessment plans, and assignments;
- Assessing and choosing Turkish language books and textbooks;
- Evaluating and using various educational resources and technologies as well as online tools to enhance learning outcomes; and
- Planning and coordinating initiatives that enhance students’ language learning skills including public speaking competitions, debates, language clubs, and cultural events.
